Campervans, Snowflakes and Christmas Trees!

Campervan Bauble “Dub Ball” Free Knitting Pattern!

This PDF knitting pattern is to make a Campervan Bauble Christmas tree decoration.  Mine was about the size of a tennis ball and made from scraps of double knitting yarn (DK) on two 3mm (UK11) knitting needles. You can of course knit in the round on double pointed needles (DPN) it’s just that I knit with one needle under my arm and really struggle to get my tension right if I can’t do that! Sad I know!

All you’ll need are a few scraps of yarn, some ribbon and some stuffing or a polystyrene ball.

Make our Knitting Patterns your own by personalising them

I love the fact that people use our patterns as a guideline, making them personal by using their own colours and adding embellishments.

I just wanted to share a couple with you.

First is a Beetle Cushion Cover which Alison adapted to look like her own VW Beetle, Bluey.  I think she has done a fantastic job!

Next is this version of our Campervan Blanket (Combined Splitty and Bay patterns) made by Eva.  I love it!  Its cheerful summer colours just make you want to dash to the beach (though maybe I’ll wait for Summer to come back before I do).

Eva made it for her son and I think it looks fantastic.

Thanks to both Alison and Eva for allowing us to share these with you.

Anyone fancy knitting a Campervan Christmas Jumper?

Hot off the press just in time for you to knit up as Christmas present for your favourite Campervan enthusiast! (or you could keep it yourself).

This pattern is for a snuggly hooded jumper made in lovely soft chunky yarn.  It has extra long cuffs with a thumbhole to keep your hands toasty, a double thickness collar to stop the drafts and a hood to keep your ears warm. Perfect for slouching!

It’s a unisex design and goes from a 32″ up to a 44″ chest.  It’s not a baggy jumper so if you like a looser fit, go up a size.

The pattern is available as a PDF document via our online shop for a price of £1.99

Yarndale and a new Campervan Pattern

Wow! What a weekend!  Who else went to Yarndale?  There was so much lovely stuff on offer it’s probably just as well I was on the Slightly Sheepish stall and not able to wander around spending because the goodies on offer were very VERY tempting!

I hope all of you who visited managed to get what you came for and more!

I’m already looking forward to next year.

I did manage to get my new pattern printed out for the occasion but didn’t get as far as putting it on the website until today so…

Here it is, a Campervan Bag based on the VW Splitty.  I made it in Freedom Echo Cotton which is made from recycled cotton fibres.  It only took 3 x 50g balls to make so you might even have some yarn at home that needs converting into something useful.  I’ve made it so it’s big enough to fit an iPad in but as my Hubby is the only one with an iPad in our house, he’d probably notice its absence and guess where I’d hidden it!

Hope you like it 🙂

Knit a Cushion Cover based on the VW Beetle / Bug

Phew, it’s been a busy few weeks over the summer holidays trotting around the VW events in our camper van but we’ve now finished the VDub season and I’m frantically trying to get ready for Yarndale, a wonderful woolly extravaganza which will be at Skipton Auction Mart  on the 28th and 29th September.

I thought I’d share my latest creation with you because even though we may have finished the VW season ourselves there is still plenty going on out there and my head is still full of ideas for woolly Dubs.

This latest pattern is based on the VW Beetle (or Bug if you prefer depending which side of the water you’re on).

I made the cushion cover using Wendy Serenity Super Chunky yarn which I love – it knits up fast, it’s really soft and you only need 3 x 100g balls to make the cover.

If you fancy having a go yourself you can get the PDF pattern from our shop for just £1.99.  Of course we sell Serenity Super Chunky yarn and needles too but lots of you have probably already got a plentiful supply at home just begging to be made into a cushion cover.

Happy knitting 🙂

Campervan Cushion VW style!

Finally something VW biased in chunky yarn! This VW Splitty Style Campervan Cushion is super quick to knit!

Made in Wendy Serenity Super Chunky yarn which I have to say is really nice to work with and very soft and snuggly!

I decided to do a Splitty first but I’m working on a Bay version too so keep watching.

The cushion has front and back views.

Happy knitting!

Doodling with yarn

Sat at HandPicked Hall yesterday I started doodling with yarn, like you do, and found myself crocheting a flower garland (or is it bunting?).  Either way, it helped to keep me occupied and also seemed a good way to use up this odd bits of yarn.  I thought you might like to have a go yourselves so I’m sharing it by posting the pattern for free download on our website.  I’d love to see any photos so please share them on our blog, Facebook or Twitter accounts.crochet flower garland 001

Is it Spring yet?

Well, the weather here in Skipton, North Yorkshire had been very undecided as has my wardrobe!  Not quite ready to pack away the winter woollies yet.

With Spring in mind I designed and made this crocheted flower cushion cover earlier in the year and took it to Handpicked Hall where it had so many people asking if I had a pattern for it that, well, I had to make a pattern for it!  If you would like to make one yourself, you can get the pattern for £1.99 from our website and if you do make one we would love to see a picture either here on our blog or on our Facebook page

Happy crocheting
